B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Le~ is­ lative Council and Legislative Assembly of Quel'nsland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows : - 1. This Act may be cited as " The Friendl.y Societies Short title A?t Amendment. After subsection one of section sixteen of the Amendment Principal Act, the following subsection is inserted:- . of s. 16. (lA.) Notwithstanding any limitation of the power Provision for of trustees contained in this Act or in the hoepitalil. rules of any society or branch, the trustf'es of any friendly society, or, with the' approval of the society of which it is a branch, the trustees of any branch may, with the approval of the committee of management or of a majority of members present and entitled to vote in general meeting, and ot the Registrar and subject to any cond.itions which he may impose, invest the funds .of such society or branch or any part thereof, in the purchase of land or the erection of buildings on land how- ever acquired, for the purpose of providing hospitals or sanatoria for the members or the wives or dependants of members; Any friendly society or branch may, sub- ject to the conditions herein provided, invest funds in debentures secured on such land or buildings and issued by any friendly society or branch or combination of such societies or branches for the aforesaid purposes. • 58 Vie.
