AN ACT to amend the Friendly Societies Act, 1894- 1956; and to repeal the Friendly Societies Act Amendment Act, 1930.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:-

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may
be cited as the Friendly Societies Act, 1894-1964.

(7a) For purchasing land and buildings, or purchasing land and constructing buildings thereon, to provide hospi- tals for the accommodation and treatment of any persons mentioned in paragraph (1) of this section, including the furnishing and equip- ping of those hospitals, or joining and co-operating with any other friendly society in any such undertakings. ; and

that friendly society dispensary from carrying on with any member of the general public at those premises, or at any premises lawfully substituted for those premises, the business and trade ordinarily carried on by a pharmaceutical and dispensing chemist and druggist.
(2) Any friendly society dispensary referred to in subsection (1) of this section that is not a society registered under the provisions of this Act is deemed to be so registered, and to have been so registered since commencing to carry on a dispensary for the purpose of dispensing medicines, in respect of the dispensary at or from which medicines were at the date referred to in that subsection being dispensed, and shall carry on the dispensary in accordance with rules approved by the Minister. .

In order to resolve any doubt as to the validity of the registration of societies registered or purported to have been registered under section eight of this Act, it is hereby declared that every society so registered or purported to have been so registered is deemed to be, and to have been since the date of registration or purported registration, lawfully registered under the provisions of this Act, and any registration or purported registration that but for this section might be of doubtful validity is ratified as lawful and validated. . |

| (b) | by inserting after the word, "been" in line two of paragraph (2), the words, "approved by the Minister and"; and |
| (c) | by inserting after the word, "Act" in line three of paragraph (6), the words, "and has been approved by the Minister". |
7. Section thirty-six of the principal Act is 22:ndect.
amended by substituting for the passage commencing with the word, "five", in line five and ending with the word, "misdemeanour", in line thirteen, the passage, "three thousand pounds by way of gross sum, from that society or branch".
8. The Friendly Societies Act Amendment Act, Vi3 o7fitg
1930, is hereby repealed.
