FOOD ACT 1989—REGULATION

(Adopting amendments to the National Food Standards Code)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Food Act 1989 and on the recommendation of the Food Advisory Committee, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. (1) This Regulation Commences on 5 July 1991, except as provided by subclause (2).

(2) Clause 2, in so far as it effects the incorporation, in the Food Standards Code, of amendments to:

(a) clause (7) (c) (iii) of Standard A8 of that Code; and

(b) clauses (15) (c) (ii) and (17) of Standard H2 of that Code,

commences on 17 June 1992.

Amendment

2. The Food Standards Code (Adoption) Regulation 1989 is amended by incorporating in the Food Standards Code set out in Schedule 1 to that Regulation the amendments (with the exception of the amendment made to Standard C1) to the Food Standards Code of the National Health and Medical Research Council made by Amendment No. 9 published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No. p 12 on 17 May 1991 at pages 3 to 21.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Food Standards Code (Adoption) Regulation 1989 adopted (with certain modifications) the Food Standards Code of the National Health and Medical Research Council.

The object of this Regulation is to amend that Regulation so as to adopt certain amendments (relating mainly to information to be provided in respect of food for sale, and to the print size in which that information must be displayed) to that Code which were published in the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette No. P 12 on 17 May 1991.

The amendments to Standard C1 of the Code made by that publication are not

adopted as the Standard itself has not been adopted in New South Wales.
