FOOD ACT 1989—REGULATION

(Adopting amendments to the National Food Standards Code)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Food Act 1989 and on the recommendation of the Food Advisory Committee, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Food Standards Code set out in Schedule 1 to the Food Standards

Code (Adoption) Regulation 1989 is amended as follows:

1.  Standard A1 is amended by inserting after clause (2) (c) the following paragraph:

(d) Where the label on or attached to a package of food prepared and packed in New Zealand includes the name and business address in New Zealand of the manufacturer, the vendor or the packer of the contents, the name and business address in Australia of the importer or packer or vendor is not required.

2.  Standard A11 is amended by omitting the following matter from Columns 1 and 2, respectively, of the Schedule:

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to adopt modifications to the Food Standards Code of the National Health and Medical Research Council adopted by the National Food Standards Council (Amendment No. 8).

The modifications:

(a)

vary the labelling requirements relating to food where that food is prepared and packaged in New Zealand; and

(b) remove a requirement relating to a specified food additive.
