Flammable Clothing Regulations 2002

I, the Governor in and over the State of Tasmania and its Dependencies in the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, make the following regulations under the Flammable Clothing Act 1973 .9 December 2002

1Short titleThese regulations may be cited as the Flammable Clothing Regulations 2002 . 2CommencementThese regulations take effect on 1 January 2003. 3Interpretation (1)  In these regulations – Act means the Flammable Clothing Act 1973 ; children’s nightclothes includes pyjamas, pyjama-style overgarments, nightdresses, dressing-gowns and infant sleepbags, but does not include any item of headwear, footwear or handwear. (2)  A reference in these regulations to an Australian Standard is taken to be a reference to that standard as from time to time amended. 4Articles of clothing to which Act appliesChildren’s nightclothes of any of the sizes 00-14 as specified in Australian Standard 1182 are articles of clothing to which the Act applies. 5Labelling and marking of articles of clothing to which Act appliesChildren’s nightclothes of the kind referred to in regulation 4 must be marked or labelled in accordance with the requirements of Australian Standard 1249.
