  1. These Regulations may be cited as the Fishing Levy (North East Demersal
Line Fishery) Regulations.*1*

Interpretation 


  2. In these Regulations, unless the contrary intention appears:

  "fishing permit" means a fishing permit for fishing in the North East
Demersal Line Fishery;

  "Levy Act" means the Fishing Levy Act 1991;

  "Management Act" means the Fisheries Management Act 1991;

  "North East Demersal Line Fishery" means the part of the Australian fishing
zone specified in the Schedule.

Amount of levy 


  3. For the purposes of section 6 of the Levy Act, the amount of levy
prescribed for a fishing permit is:

  (a) in the case of a fishing permit granted on or before 30 June 1993 -
$1,575; and

  (b) in the case of a fishing permit granted in the period beginning on 1
July 1993 and ending at the end of 30 June 1994 - $1,464.

When levy is due and payable 


  4. For the purposes of section 110 of the Management Act, levy is due and
payable for a fishing permit:

  (a) if the permit  is granted before the commencement of this regulation -
on or before 14 April 1994; and

  (b) if the permit is granted after the commencement of this regulation - on
the grant of the permit.

                          SCHDEULE                 Regulation 2

               NORTH EAST DEMERSAL LINE FISHERY

The area bounded by a line:

  (a) beginning at the point of latitude 24 degrees 30' south, longitude

154 degrees east; and

  (b) running:

    (i) from there north-westerly along the geodesic to the point of

latitude 21 degrees south, longitude 152 degrees 55' east; and

    (ii) from there north-westerly along the geodesic to the point of

latitude 17 degrees 30' south, longitude 147 degrees east; and

    (iii) from there north-westerly along the geodesic to the point of

latitude 15 degrees south, longitude 146 degrees east; and

    (iv) from there north-westerly along the geodesic to the point of

latitude 13 degrees south, longitude 145 degrees east; and

    (v) from there northerly along the meridian of longitude 145 degrees

east to its intersection by the outer limit of the Australian fishing

zone; and

    (vi) from there generally southerly along that outer limit to its

intersection by the parallel of latitude 24 degrees 30' south; and

    (vii) from there westerly along the parallel of latitude 24 degrees

30' south to the point where the line began.
