Fishing Levy (Great Australian Bight Trawl Fishery) Regulations 2(Amendment)

I, The Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, make the following Regulations under the Fishing Levy Act 1991 and the Fisheries Management Act 1991.

1.   Amendment

1.1   The Fishing Levy (Great Australian Bight Trawl Fishery) Regulations are amended as set out in these Regulations.

[NOTE: These Regulations commence on gazettal: see Acts Interpretation Act 1901, s. 48.]

2.   Regulation 3 (Amount of levy)

2.1   Paragraph 3 (a):

Omit “$7,000;”, substitute “$8,950;”.

2.2   Paragraph 3 (b):

Omit “$7,000”, substitute “$8,950”.

[NOTE:

 The following note is added at the end of regulation 3:

“[NOTE:

 Under the Primary Industries and Energy Research and Development Act 1989, a part (the ‘research component’) of the levy imposed by the Fishing Levy Act 1991 is to be paid to the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation for research and development activities relating to the fishing industry. It is proposed, in respect of a fishing right referred to in regulation 3, that an amount of $828 from the levy amount of $8,950 will be paid to the Corporation as the Fishery’s contribution to the research component for the financial year ending on 30 June 1996.]”.]
