s1 2 s4 Fisheries (White Spot Syndrome Virus) Quarantine No. 30, 2001 Declaration 2001 PART 1—PRELIMINARY 1 Short title This declaration may be cited as the Fisheries (White Spot Syndrome Virus) Quarantine Declaration 2001. 2 Definitions In this declaration— “declared quarantine area” means an area declared to be a quarantine area under section 3. “restricted prawns” means imported green prawns in a declared quarantine area. “virus” means the declared disease white spot syndrome virus. PART 2—DECLARED QUARANTINE AREAS 3 Declaration of quarantine areas Each of the following areas is declared to be a quarantine area for section 95(1) of the Act— (a) lot 50 on RP889481, Parish of Tingalpa, County of Stanley; (b) lot 8 on RP749474, Parish of Cairns, County of Nares. 4 Nature of quarantine The quarantine is for restricting movement of restricted prawns out of the declared quarantine areas to prevent the spread of the virus to live fisheries resources.
s5 3 s7 Fisheries (White Spot Syndrome Virus) Quarantine No. 30, 2001 Declaration 2001 PART 3—DISEASE CONTROL MEASURES 5 Restrictions on moving restricted prawns (1) A person must not, without an inspector’s written consent, move restricted prawns out of a declared quarantine area. (2) An inspector’s consent may include directions about moving the prawns. (3) Without limiting subsection (2), a direction may be about— (a) how the prawns must be moved; or (b) where the prawns may be moved to; or (c) the purposes for which the prawns may be used after they are moved. 6 Taking and removing, or destroying, restricted prawns If an inspector reasonably believes restricted prawns are infected with the virus, the inspector or a person authorised by the inspector may take and remove, or destroy, the prawns in a way the inspector considers appropriate for eliminating the virus. PART 4—EXPIRY 7 Expiry This declaration expires on 2 July 2001, unless it is sooner revoked under section 102 of the Act.
