Fisheries (Temporary Catch Limit on Taking of
Abalone) Regulations 1999
The Governor in Council makes the following Regulations:

1. Objective
The objective of these Regulations is to introduce a temporary zero catch limit on the taking or possessing of abalone by recreational fishers.
2. Authorising provision
These Regulations are made under section 153 of the Fisheries Act 1995.
3. Principal Regulations
In these Regulations the Fisheries Regulations
19981 are called the Principal Regulations.

4. Temporary catch limit on taking or possessing abalone
In regulation 503 of the Principal Regulations—
(a) in sub-regulation (4) for "(1), (2) and (3)" substitute "(1), (2), (3) and (6)"; and (b) in sub-regulation (5) for "Sub-regulation (2) and (6) do not"; and
(c)
after sub-regulation (5) insert— "(6) Despite sub-regulations (1) and (2) the
daily catch limit with respect to the
taking from, or possession in, on or
next to Victorian waters of abalone and
greenlip abalone is 0 for the period
beginning on the day on which the
Fisheries (Temporary Catch Limit on
Taking of Abalone) Regulations 1999
come into operation and ending on31 July 1999.".
5. Expiry of Regulations
These Regulations expire on 31 July 1999.
