AN ORDINANCE for protecting the Oyster Fisheries on.
the Coasts of this Colony.

of this Colony are necessary in order to prevent the entire
destruction of the Oyster Brood therein : Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency The Governor of western Australia, and its Depen- dencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows:

or harbor for the purpose of taking or catching any oysters or oyster brood, though none shall be actually, taken, or shall sell, dispose of, exchange, or barter, for valuable consideration, any such oysters, or oyster brood, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction before any Justice of the Peace, shall be liable to a fine not exceeding Five pounds, or to be imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for any period not exceeding Three calendar months.
