1  Citation

This Direction is the Fisheries Management (Northern Prawn Fishery Seasonal Closures) Amendment Direction No. 1 2022.

2  Commencement

This instrument commences on 9 June 2022.

3  Authority

This instrument is made under subsection 41A(3) of the Fisheries Management Act 1991.

4  Schedules

Each instrument that is specified in a Schedule to this instrument is amended or repealed as set out in the applicable items in the Schedule concerned, and any other item in a Schedule to this instrument has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1—Amendments

Fisheries Management (Northern Prawn Fishery Seasonal Closures) Direction 2021

  1. Subsection 8(5)

Omit the subsection, substitute:

Fishing ban for Sweers Island – Mornington Island

(5) Fishing is not to be engaged in in the area defined in Schedule 11 during the period commencing at 0800 hours UTC on 9 June 2022 and ending at 0200 hours UTC 15 June 2022.

Omit the subsection, substitute:

Early closure for banana fishery west of 138 degrees

(6) Fishing is not to be engaged in in waters west of the meridian of Longitude 138° E during the period commencing at 0800 hours UTC on 9 June 2022 and ending at 0230 hours UTC 15 June 2022.

Omit the subsection, substitute:

Early closure for banana fishery east of 138 degrees

(7) Fishing is not to be engaged in in waters east of the meridian of Longitude 138° E between the hours of 2200 hours UTC and 0800 hours UTC each day, during the period commencing at 0800 hours UTC on 9 June 2022 and ending at 0200 hours UTC 15 June 2022.
