FISHERIES MANAGEMENT ACT 1994—REGULATION

(Relating to annual contributions by commercial fishers)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Fisheries Management Act 1994. has been

pleased to make the Regulation set forth -hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 February 1994.

Amendment
2. The Fisheries Management (General) Regulation 1995 is amended by omitting clause 142 (1) and by inserting instead the following subclause:

(1) For the purposes of section 106 of the Act, the annual contribution payable by a person who holds a Class l , Class 2 or Class 3 commercial fishing licence which is issued or renewed on or after 1 February 1996 is $275.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to increase from $75 to $275 the annual contribution of commercial fishers toward research and other commercial fishing industry costs. The increase applies on and from 1 February 1996 in respect of a commercial fishing licence (Class 1, 2 or 3) that is issued or renewed on or after that date.

This Regulation is made under the Fisheries Management Act 1994, in particular
section 106 (Annual contribution to cost of research and to other industry costs) and
section 289 (the general regulation making power).
