His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has
made the following Regulation under the Fisheries Management Act 1994. BOB MARTIN, M.P.,

Explanatory note
The Fisheries Management (General) Regulation 1995 specifies the minimum and maximum sizes that apply to the taking of certain fish, the maximum quantity of certain fish that can be taken by a person on any one day (called a daily limit) and the maximum quantity of certain fish that a person may have in possession in certain circumstances (called a possession
limit).
The object of this Regulation is to make various changes to those specifications in respect of certain freshwater fish. The Regulation:
(a) increases the minimum size for golden perch and Murray crayfish, and ( b )
changes the composition of the Murray cod possession limit (currently the possession limit is 4), so that only 1 of the 4 fish taken can be longer than 100 cm, and
( c )
decreases the daily limit and possession limit for golden perch taken from all waters other than backed up waters of dams and impoundments, and

Explanatory note
| (d) | revises the daily limit and possession limit for silver perch to take account of a fishing closure that applies to the taking of silver perch, and |
| (e) | sets a daily limit and possession limit for Australian bass and estuary perch taken from backed up waters of dams and impoundments that is separate from the daily limit and possession limit that applies when those fish are taken from other waters, and |
| ( f ) | applies the daily limit and possession limit for Murray crayfish to all freshwater spiny crayfish. |
This Regulation is made under the Fisheries Management Act 1994, including section 15 (Declaration of prohibited size fish), section 1 7 (Bag limits-taking of fish), section 18 (Bag limits-possession of fish) and section 289 (the general regulation making power).

amended as set out in Schedule 1.
