Fisheries Management Amendment (Threatened Species Conservation) Order (No 4) 2000
Explanatory note
Under the Act, listings and amendments to listings are to be made by the Minister by order on the recommendation of the Fisheries Scientific Committee (the Committee).
The object of this Order is to list Murray hardyhead and Notopala sublineata (a river snail) in Part 1 of Schedule 4 to the Act (Endangered species), and Buchanans fairy shrimp in Schedule 5 to the Act (Vulnerable species), as recommended by the Committee.
The Committee has recommended the listings in Part 1 of Schedule 4 to the Act because it considers that the numbers of the species have been reduced to such a critical level that they are in immediate danger of extinction.
The Committee has recommended the listing in Schedule 5 to the Act because it considers that the species is likely to become endangered unless the circumstances and factors threatening its survival or evolutionary development cease to operate.
