Fisheries Management Amendment

(Nets and Traps) Regulation 1996

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Fisheries Management Act 1994.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to prohibit the use of nets and traps for the purpose of taking fish in the waters of Dee Why Lagoon, Curl Curl Lagoon (previously known as Harbord Lagoon) and Manly Lagoon. The prohibition will not prevent the otherwise lawful use of a dip or scoop net or a bait trap. This Regulation is made under the Fisheries Management Act 1994, including section 24 (Lawful use of nets and traps) and section 289 (the general regulation making power).

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Fisheries Management Amendment (Nets and Traps) Regulation 1996.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 July 1996.

  1. Amendment of Fisheries Management (General) Regulation

    1995

    The Fisheries Management (General) Regulation 1995 is amended as set out in Schedule 1 .

Schedule 2 Waters in which net and trap fishing are prohibited

Insert after the matter relating to Narrabeen Lake the following matter:

Dee Why Lagoon, Curl Curl Lagoon and Manly Lagoon

County of Cumberland. The whole of the waters of Dee Why Lagoon, Curl Curl Lagoon and Manly Lagoon together with their affluents and tributaries.
