Fisheries Levy
(Great Australian Bight Trawl Fishery) Regulations

GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of
the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Fisheries Levy Act 1984.

Citation
1. These Regulations may
be cited as the Fisheries Levy (Great Australian Bight Trawl Fishery)
Regulations.
Interpretation
2. In these Regulations,
unless the contrary intention appears:
“plan of management” means the Plan of
Management No. GAB 1 determined on 15 December 1989 under subsection 7b (1) of the Fisheries Act 1952 the making of which was notified in the Gazette on 20 December 1989, as that
plan of management is in force from time to time;
“the Act” means the Fisheries Levy Act 1984.
Prescribing units of
fishing capacity—section 5 of the Act
3. For the purposes of
paragraphs 5 (bc) and (bd) of the Act, a unit of fishing capacity allocated in
accordance with the plan of management is a prescribed unit of fishing
capacity.
Amount of levy
4. For the purposes of
subsection 6 (1) of the Act, $6,000 is specified as the amount of levy on the
allocation or the renewal of the allocation of a unit of fishing capacity
mentioned in regulation 3.
Repeal
5. Statutory Rules 1987
No. 323 are repealed.
