s1 2 s4 Fisheries Amendment (No. 5) No. 217, 1999 ˙ Short title 1. This regulation may be cited as the Fisheries Amendment Regulation (No. 5) 1999 . ˙ Regulation amended 2. This regulation amends the Fisheries Regulation 1995 . ˙ Amendment of s 35 (Permits Authority may issue) 3. Section 35— insert— ‘ (3) However, the Authority must not issue a general fisheries permit that allows a prohibited activity mentioned in schedule 2, part 7 or schedule 3, part 7. ‘ (4) Subsection (3) and this subsection expire on 10 December 1999.’. ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (Closed waters—Commercial fishing) 4. Schedule 2— insert— ‘ PART 7—USING OR POSSESSING PURSE SEINE NETS ‘ Prohibited activities ‘ 279. The following activities are prohibited in Queensland waters— (a) using a purse seine net to take fish; (b) possessing fish taken in contravention of paragraph (a); (c) possessing a purse seine net.

Schedule 3— insert — ‘ PART 7—USING OR POSSESSING PURSE SEINE NETS ‘ Prohibited activities ‘ 87. The following activities are prohibited in Queensland waters— (a) using a purse seine net to take fish; (b) possessing fish taken in contravention of paragraph (a); (c) possessing a purse seine net. ‘ Expiry ‘ 88. This part expires on 10 December 1999.’. ˙ Amendment of sch 17 (Dictionary) 6. Schedule 17, part 1— insert— ‘ “purse seine net” means a seine net that is used to trap fish by drawing together or pursing the lower edge of the net with a drawstring attached to the edge.’.
