This regulation may be cited as the Fisheries Amendment Regulation (No. 1) 1996 . ˙ Commencement 2.(1) Section 6 commences on 1 January 1997. (2) The remaining provisions commence on 7 September 1996. ˙ Regulation amended 3. This regulation amends the Fisheries Regulation 1995 . ˙ Amendment of s 27 (Notice of filling of annual quota) 4.(1) Section 27, heading, ‘annual quota’— omit, insert— ‘certain quotas’. (2) Section 27(1), ‘an annual quota’— omit, insert— ‘a quota (other than a daily or time quota)’. ˙ Amendment of sch 2 (Closed waters—commercial fishing) 5.(1) Schedule 2, part 2— insert— ‘ Division 1—Fish other than spanner crabs in managed area A ’. (2) Schedule 2, part 2, section 41, ‘this part’— omit, insert— ‘this division’.

s6 3 s7 Fisheries Amendment (No. 1) No. 233, 1996 (3) Schedule 2, part 2, after section 46— insert— ‘ Division 2—Spanner crabs in managed area A ‘ Prohibited activities ‘ 46A.(1) The following activities are prohibited in managed area A— (a) taking spanner crabs; (b) possessing spanner crabs. ‘ (2) The waters are closed from— (a) midnight on 4 October 1996 to midnight on 5 January 1997; and (b) at all other times—midnight on Friday to midnight on Sunday.’. ˙ Amendment of sch 11 (Crab fisheries (Commercial)) 6. Schedule 11, part 2, sections 17, 36 and 46— insert— ‘ (2) However, no more than 1 000 t may be taken in the period 1 July to 31 December.’. ˙ Amendment of sch 17 (Dictionary) 7. Schedule 17, part 1— insert— ‘ “annual” , for a quota, means the period— (a) for spanner crabs—1 July to 30 June; or (b) otherwise—1 January to 31 December.’.
