AN ACT to amend the Firearms and Guns Act,

1931-1966.

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent n Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

6. (1) Subject to the succeeding provisions of this section, a license shall, unless cancelled or revoked, be valid for a period of twelve months from the date of issue.

(2) During the year nineteen hundred and sixty-nine, the Commissioner or a member of the Police Force acting with his authority may, on payment of a fee as provided by this section, issue a license to remain in force for any period that is not less than six months or more than eighteen months.

The fee payable on the issue of a license that is to remain in force for any period other than twelve months is the prescribed fee, reduced by ten cents for every month or portion thereof by which the period is less than twelve months and increased by ten cents for every month or portion thereof by which the period exceeds twelve months. .

3. Section nine of the principal Act is amended

(a)

by deleting paragraph (a) and substituting the following paragraph

(a)

who is a member of the Police Force having a firearm in his possession for use in the performance of his duties;

and

(b)

by adding, after paragraph (f), the following paragraph

(f a) using-

(i) a rifle that is the property of, or of a member of, a rifle club affiliated with the body known as the West Australian Rifle Association or the body known

and incorporated as the West Australian Smallbore Rifle Association; or

(ii) a pistol that is the property of, or of a member of, a pistol club that is affiliated with the body known and incorporated as the West Australian Pistol Association,

on a properly constructed range

approved by the relevant body; .
