1. Name of regulation

   This regulation is the Firearms Amendment Regulation 2009 (No 1).

2. Commencement

   This regulation commences on the day after its notification day.

   NoteThe naming and commencement provisions automatically commence on the notification day (see Legislation Act, s 75 (1)).

3. Legislation amended

   This regulation amends the Firearms Regulation 2008.

4. New section 73A

   in part 15, insert

73APeople exempt from Act—Act, s 272 (2) (r)

A member of a police service or force of a foreign country is exempt from the Act in relation to a firearm the member possesses or uses if the possession or use is for taking part in a training activity—

(a)conducted by the Australian Federal Police; and

(b)carried out in the ACT.
