Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Firearms Act 1996.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to exempt persons who possess or use imitations of antique firearms (not including imitations of antique revolvers) from the requirement to be authorised by a permit under the Firearms Act 1996.

This Regulation is made under the Firearms Act 1996, including section 88 (the regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Firearms Amendment (Exemption) Regulation
2010.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the
NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Firearms Regulation 2006

Clause 116

Insert after clause 115:

116      Exemption relating to imitations of antique firearms

(1) A person is not required to be authorised by a permit to possess or use an imitation of an antique firearm (other than an imitation of an antique revolver).
(2) In this clause, antique firearm and antique revolver have the same meanings as they have in section 6A of the Act.
