FIREARMS AMENDMENT ACT

No. 70 of 1987

AN ACT to amend the Firearms Act 1973.

[Assented to 22 November 1987]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the

advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1.     This Act may be cited as the Firearms Amendment Act 1987.

Commencement

2.     This Act shall come into operation on such day as is fixed by

proclamation.

Principal Act

3. In this Act the Firearms Act 1973* is referred to as the principal

Act.

Section 6 amended

4.     Section 6 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (3) by

deleting "four hundred dollars" in paragraph (b) and substituting the

following-

" $500 ".

Section 7 amended

5.     Section 7 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (2) by

deleting "four hundred dollars" in paragraph (b) and substituting the

following-

" $500 ".

Section 19 amended

6.     Section 19 of the principal Act is amended

(a) in subsection (1)-

(i) by deleting "five hundred dollars" and substituting the

(c) in subsection (3) by deleting "forty dollars" and substituting the following-

" $60 ";

(d) in subsection (4) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $400 "; and

(e) in subsection (5) by deleting "one hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $200 ".

Section 21 amended

7.     Section 21 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (2) by

deleting "two hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $300 ".

Section 23 amended

8.     Section 23 of the principal Act is amended

(a) in subsection (1) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $300 ";

(b) in subsection (2) by deleting "two hundred dollars" wherever it occurs and substituting in each place the following-

" $400 ";

(c) in subsection (3)-

(i) by deleting "four hundred dollars" and substituting the

(d) in subsection (4)-

(i)  by deleting "five hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $1000 "; and

(ii)  by deleting "four hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $800 ";

(e) in subsection (5) by deleting "four hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $600 ";

(f) in subsection (6) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and

substituting the following-

" $400 ";

(g) in subsection (7) by deleting "one hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $200 ";

(h) in subsection (8) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $400 ";

(i) in subsection (9) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and

substituting the following-

" $400 ";

(j) in subsection (9a) by deleting "four hundred dollars" and

substituting the following-

" $800 ";

(k) in subsection (10) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $400 ";

(I) in subsection (10a) by deleting "twenty dollars" and substituting

the following-

" $100 "; and

(m) in subsection (11) by deleting "two hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $400 ".

Section 24 amended

9.     Section 24 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (6) by

deleting "one hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $200 ".

Section 30 amended

10.     Section 30 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (4) by

deleting "one hundred dollars" and substituting the following-

" $200 ".

Section 34 amended

11.     Section 34 of the principal Act is amended in subsection (3) by

deleting "one hundred dollars" in paragraph (d) and substituting the
