FIREARMS ACT 1996 No 46—PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Firearms Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 July 1997 as the day on which the following provisions of that Act commence:

(a) Parts 2-5, 7 and 8,
(b) sections 50, 51, 53, 54, 56-60, 62, 63, 65, 68, 69, 70, 71, 89 and 90,
(c) Schedule 2,
(d) Part 2 of Schedule 3.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence all of the remaining provisions of the Firearms Act 1996. These provisions include the new licensing and registration scheme for firearms.
