FIREARMS ACT 1996 No 46—PROCLAMATION

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels, AC, Governor of the State of New South

Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Firearms Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 1 October 1996 as the day on which section 78 of that Act commences.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence section 78 of the Firearns Act 1996 which provides for compensation to be paid for surrendered self-loading rifles and shotguns classified as prohibited firearms.
