FIREARMS ACT 1989 - REGULATION

(Relating to the certification of instructors)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Firearms Act 1989, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement

1. This Regulation commences on 1 July 1990.

Amendments

2. The Firearms Regulation 1990 is amended:

by omitting clause 79 (1) and by inserting instead the following
subclause:

(1) The Commissioner may approve firearms safety awareness courses and persons to be instructors for those courses.

by omitting the note appearing at the end of Schedule 2 and by
inserting instead the following note:

# Pistol collector licences for pistols manufactured before

1946 (other than antique pistols) will not be issued before
1 January 1991 (see clause 12 (2)).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to amend the Firearms Regulation 1990 so as to remove the requirement that persons approved by the Commissioner of Police as instructors for firearms safety awareness courses must also be certified by the New South Wales Shooting Association and to correct a footnote in that Regulation.
