FIREARMS ACT 1989—REGULATION

(Relating to junior shooter’s target pistol permit)

NEW SOUTH WALES

[Published in Gazette No. 41 of 8 March 1991]

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Firearms Act 1989, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

TED PICKERING

Minister for Police and Emergency Services.

Amendment

The Firearms Regulation 1990 is amended by inserting in clause 78(6)

after the word “permit” the words “or a junior shooter’s target pistol

permit”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to mend the Firearms Regulation 1990 to remove the requirement that a fee be paid for the issue of a junior shooter’s target pistol permit. Minors are currently exempted from payment of a fee for a firearms permit. Both situations involve the grant to persons below 18 years of age of permits with similiar effect with the only difference being the type of firearm concerned.
