FIREARMS ACT 1989—REGULATION
(Providing exemptions for custodians of certain firearms on public display)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,
and in pursuance of the Firearms Act 1989, has been pleased to make the
Regulation set forth hereunder.

The Firearms Regulation 1990 is amended by inserting after clause 97
the following clause:
Exemption relating to certain firearms on display
97A. The Director of Historic Houses and such officers and employees of the Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales as are over the age of 18 years are exempt from the requirement made by section 5 of the Act to be authorised by a licence or permit to possess firearms belonging to or on loan to the Trust while they are being displayed in accordance with arrangements approved by the Commissioner at any of the following places:
Justice and Police Museum (corner of Phillip Street and Albert Road,
Sydney);
“Lyndhurst”, 61 Darghan Street, Glebe;
Vaucluse House.
EXPLANATORY NOTE
The object of this Regulation is to exempt persons having the custody of firearms displayed at certain premises under the control and management of the Historic Houses Trust from having to hold a licence or permit under the Firearms Act 1989.
