Fire Service Amendment Act 2011

An Act to amend the Fire Service Act 1979

[Royal Assent 29 April 2011]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Fire Service Amendment Act 2011 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on 1 July 2011 but if it does not receive the Royal Assent on or before that day it is taken to have commenced on that day. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Fire Service Act 1979 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Section 78 amended (Application of Division) Section 78 of the Principal Act is amended as follows: (a) by inserting the following paragraph after paragraph (bc) in subsection (1) : (bd) Commonwealth land to which a fire protection services agreement applies; or (b) by inserting the following definition after the definition of exempt tenant in subsection (4) : fire protection services agreement means an agreement between the Commission and the Commonwealth under which the Commission undertakes to provide fire protection services in respect of specified Commonwealth land in this State in consideration of the Commonwealth making a contribution towards the operating costs of brigades; 5Repeal of ActThis Act is repealed on the ninetieth day from the day on which it commences.
