An Act to empower Coroners to make inquiry into the

Causes of Fires.

[Assented to 20th August, 1887.

BE it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia Preamifie

and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the

Legislative Council thereof, as follows :-

1. That every Coroner and every person entitled to act and acting suristhedeu of

The Fire Inquiry Act, 1887

has been lost or endangered ; or whereby any building, ship, or merchandise, or any stack of corn or hay, or any growing crop, or any trees, saplings, bushes, shrubs, plants, grass, stubble, or scrub has been destroyed or damaged.

Coroner 2. That such Coroner and every such person may issue his warrant lame warrant for the apprehension and commitment of any person who shall be

found by the jury upon such inquisition to have wilfully set on fire any building, ship, or other property in the first section of this Act mentioned.

Short title

3. This Act may be cited as ' The Fire Inquiry Act, 1887.'

4. That the Ordinances of the 19th Victoria, No. 10, and 27th

Victoria No. 1 be read and construed with this Act.
