FIRE BRIGADES ACT 1942

FIRE BRIGADES AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 1997

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

Citation

1.     These regulations may be cited as the Fire Brigades Amendment

Regulations 1997.

Principal regulations

2.      In these regulations the Fire Brigades Regulations 1943* are referred to

as the principal regulations.

Regulation 95 amended

(a) the written consent of a parent or guardian of the person to the transfer has been received by the Chief Officer;

3.      Regulation 95 (b) of the principal regulations is deleted.

Regulation 141A repealed

4.      Regulation 141A of the principal regulations is repealed.

Regulation 163 amended

5.     (1) Regulation 163 (1) (c) of the principal regulations is amended by

deleting ", and not over the age of 45 years".

(2) Regulation 163 (2) of the principal regulations is repealed and the

following subregulation is substituted —

(2) Notwithstanding subregulation (1) (c), a person may be registered on the roll of a brigade as a Probationary Volunteer Fireman, where the person is over the age of 16 years but not over the age of 17 years provided that the person shall not be transferred to the active volunteer grade or reserve volunteer grade under regulation 167 unless —

(b)

the brigade Captain is of the opinion that the person is a suitable person to be an active member of the brigade; and

(c) the person has successfully completed a fire fighter study
programme approved by the Board. 11

Regulation 165 repealed

6. Regulation 165 of the principal regulations is repealed.
