Fire Brigades (Amendment) Act 1949 (NSW)

Act No. 16, 1949.

An Act to make further provisions in relation to the borrowing powers and the fund of the Board of Fire Commissioners of New South Wales; for this purpose to amend the Fire Brigades Act, 1909-1948; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 30th June, 1949.]

BE it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­	Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—
1. (1) This Act may be cited as the " F i r e Brigades (Amendment) Act, 1949."
(2) The Fire Brigades Act, 1909, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Fire Brigades Act, 1909-1949.

2. (1) The Fire Brigades Act, 1909-1948, is

amended—

(a) by omitting from subsection three of section seventeen the words " two hundred and fifty thousand pounds" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "five hundred thousand pounds" ;

(ii) by inserting in the same subsection after the words "fire distr ict" where thirdly occurring the words " a s the Governor from time to time by proclamation published in the Gazette may determine"; (iii)

(b) (i) by omitting from subsection one of section
thirty-four the words "one-fourth of a

penny" and by inserting in lieu thereof the

words "such r a t e " ;

(iii)   by omitting from paragraphs (a) and (c) of subsection two of the same section the word "One-fourth" and by inserting in lieu thereof the word "One-eighth";

(iv)   by omitting from paragraph (b) of the same subsection the word "One-half" and by inserting in lieu thereof the word "Three- quar ters ."

(2) The amendments made by paragraph (b) of subsection one of this section shall take effect as on and from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty.
