Fire Brigades Act and Another Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 97 1 107 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen ' s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled , and by the authority of the same, as follows:- PART I-PRELIMINARY 1. Short title . This Act may be cited as the Fire Brigades Act and Another Act Amendment Act 1984. 2. Arrangement . This Act is arranged as follows:- PART I-PRELIMINARY (ss. 1-2); PART II-AMENDMENTS OF FIRE BRIGADES ACT 1964- 1984 (ss. 3-6); PART III-AMENDMENTS OF FIRE BRIGADES ACT AND OTHER ACTS AMENDMENT ACT 1984 (ss. 7-8). PART II-AMENDMENTS OF FIRE BRIGADES ACT 1964-1984 3. Citation. (1) In this Part the Fire Brigades Act 1964-1984 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Fire Brigades Act 1964-1984. 4. Amendment of s. 34c. Local Authorities to collect annual contributions by owners of prescribed properties . Section 34c of the Principal Act is amended in subsection (2) by- (a) in paragraph (a), inserting after the words "are prescribed properties" the words "at the commencement of that financial year"; (b) in paragraph (b), omitting from provision (iii) the expression "15" and substituting the expression "17 11/17". 5. Repeal of s. 44. Apportionment of contribution amongst component Local Authorities. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 44. 6. Repeal of s. 45. Method of obtaining payment of contribution by component Local Authorities. The Principal Act is amended by repealing section 45. PART III-AMENDMENTS OF FIRE BRIGADES ACT AND OTHER ACTS AMENDMENT ACT 1984 7. Citation . (1) In this Part the Fire Brigades Act and Other ActsAmendment Act 1984 is referred to as the Principal Act. (2) The Principal Act as amended by this Part may be cited as the Fire Brigades Act and Other Acts Amendment Act 1984.

1 108 Fire Brigades Act and Another Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 97 8. Amendment of s. 15. Amendment of s. 12A. Trustees of superannuation scheme. Section 15 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in subsection (1)- (i) in provision (b)- (A) omitting from subprovision (i) the word "six" and substituting the word "seven"; (B) in provision (iv), omitting the words "a person," and substituting the words "two persons, each"; (C) in provision (vi), after the words "Union of Employees", inserting the following expression and words:- Provided that a person who is not a chief officer, deputy chief officer or other officer , fireman , ancillary fireman or cadet fireman employed by a Board shall not be qualified to be a trustee pursuant to provision ( d) or (e)"; (b) in subsection (2)- (i) omitting the words "a trustee pursuant to section 12A (2) (e)" where they first appear and substituting the words " additional trustees pursuant to section 12A (2) (c ) and (e)"; (ii) omitting all words from and including the words " person first appointed" to the end of the subsection and substituting the words "persons first appointed trustees pursuant to section 12A (2) (c ) and (e) of the Principal Act as amended shall similarly be trustees for a like term.".
