FINES AND PENALTIES (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 31 , 1954.

An Act to make further provision relating to certain fines, penalties and forfeitures imposed or authorised to be imposed by any Act; for this purpose to amend the Fines and Penalties Act, 1901-1933, the Police Regulation Act, 1899-1947, and certain other Acts; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 23rd November, 1954.]

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Fines and Penalties (Amendment) Act, 1954."
(2) This Act shall be deemed to have commenced on the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four.
2 . (1) The Fines and Penalties Act, 1901-1933, is amended—
(b) by omitting from subsection three of the same section the words and brackets "(unless a moiety of the same is to be paid into the Police Superannuation and Reward Fund in accordance with subsection two of this section)" and by inserting in lieu thereof the words "where the
informer

(a) by omitting subsection two of section five;

informer or other person prosecuting or suing for the same is not a member of the police force".

(2) The Fines and Penalties Act, 1901, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Fines and Penalties Act, 1901-1954.

3 . (1) The Police Regulation Act, 1899-1947, is

amended—

(a) by omitting from section seventeen the words " a n d any penalty imposed in pursuance of the provisions of this section shall be paid to the Colonial Treasurer, to be by him applied and set apart towards the Police Superannuation and Reward Fund hereinafter referred t o " ;
(b) by omitting from section thirty-four the words " t o be by him applied and set apart towards a fund to be called the 'Police Superannuation and Reward Fund,' out of which shall be paid to the constables appointed under this Act, or to the widows of any such constables, such rewards, gratuities, bounties, pensions, or other allow­ ances as may be directed by any rules made as hereinbefore provided".

(2) The Police Regulation Act, 1899, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Police Regulation Act, 1899-1954.

4 . The Vagrancy Act, 1902, is amended by omitting

section sixteen.
