whole to t h e sum of n ine thousand four hundred and seventy-eight J u l y in th i s present year divers sums of money amoun t ing in t h e WH E R E A S thousand eight hundred and forty-nine and t h e first day of
pounds th i r t een shil l ings and four-pence were paid out of t h e Pub l ic Genera l Revenue of t he Colony of New South Wales by the Colonial Treasurer thereof for the expenses of t h e Adminis t ra t ion of Jus t i ce t h roughou t t he Colony in addit ion to the amoun t appropr ia ted to tha t service by Schedule A to t he Act of Pa r l i amen t five and six Victoria cap. seventy-six wi thout the au thor i ty of any vote of the Governor and Legislat ive Council of the said Colony in t h a t behalf A n d whereas under the special c i rcumstances of t he case i t is expedient t ha t all Officers concerned in such expendi ture should be indemnified in respect thereof Be it therefore enacted by H i s Excel lency the Governor of New South Wales with t he advice and consent of t h e Legislat ive Council thereof Tha t t he said Governor and the Colonial Treasurer and Audi to r General thereof and all persons whatever hav ing acted unde r the i r or ei ther of the i r war ran t s orders or directions shall be and they are hereby indemnified for and in respect of any w a r r a n t order or direction which they or either of t h e m may have given or made or caused to be given or made for the expendi ture of such sums as afore­ said in addit ion to t h e sum appropriated to t he said service by the said Schedule to t he said Act of Pa r l i ament and for and in respect of all paymen t s made or caused to be made by t h e m or any of t h e m for t he services aforesaid in excess of such appropr ia t ion no t exceeding in t he whole t he said sum of n ine thousand four hundred and seventy- eight pounds th i r t een shillings and four-pence.
