Building Capacity in Australian Parents Trial

To conduct trial measures, in select locations, under which Commonwealth‑funded local area coordinators:

(a) render assistance to vulnerable parents and legal guardians to help them perform their child‑rearing responsibilities; and

(b) engage in activities to develop institutions, facilities and services for the care of children;

for the purposes of meeting Australia’s obligations under Article 18(2) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Towards Independent Adulthood Trial

To conduct a trial measure, in conjunction with a State or Territory, involving the provision of support to a select cohort of young people transitioning from out‑of‑home care.

This objective also has the effect it would have if it were limited to:

(a) giving effect to Australia’s international obligations under either or both of the following:

(i) the Convention on the Rights of the Child;

(ii) the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights; or

(b) providing unemployment benefits or benefits to students; or

(c) providing support by way of online communications; or

(d) taking measures within the executive power of the Commonwealth; or

(e) taking measures within a Territory.
