Grants to the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children

To fund the delivery of specialist allied health and education services to children, aged 18 years or under, with hearing or vision impairment, and their families, in remote and regional locations in Australia:

(a) as the provision of sickness benefits or benefits to students; or

(b) using postal, telegraphic, telephonic and other like services; or

(c) to meet Australia’s obligations under:

(i) the Convention on the Rights of the Child; or

(ii) the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities; or

(iii) the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights.

Young Carers Respite and Information Services Programme

To assist young carers to complete their secondary education, or the vocational education equivalent, by providing:

(a) students aged 18 years or under who have caring responsibilities with respite and educational support services; and

(b) young carers aged 25 years or under with information, advice and referral services, including online or by telephone;

to the extent that the services:

(c) are the provision of benefits to students and sickness benefits; or

(d) are provided using postal, telegraphic, telephonic, and other like services.
