1Name

This instrument is the Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Amendment (Industry, Science and Resources Measures No. 1) Regulations 2023.

2Commencement

   Each provision of this instrument specified in column 1 of the table commences, or is taken to have commenced, in accordance with column 2 of the table. Any other statement in column 2 has effect according to its terms.

Schedule 1Amendments

Financial Framework (Supplementary Powers) Regulations 1997

   In the appropriate position in Part 4 of Schedule 1AB (table)

Insert:

595 Protecting Australia’s National Interest in Critical and Emerging Technologies To enhance Australia’s ability to influence the development of international standards in critical and emerging technologies, including by: (a) supporting entities (whether public or private) to promote Australia’s interests in the development of those standards; and (b) building international partnerships; and (c) establishing systems to enable the Commonwealth to monitor and advise on the development of those standards; as a measure in relation to places, persons, matters or things external to Australia or matters affecting Australia’s relations with foreign countries. This objective also has the effect it would have if it were limited to measures in connection with trade and commerce with other countries, or among the States and Territories.
