Improving your Local Parks and Environment Program

To provide support for local councils, environmental and community groups and others to undertake measures for the protection of the environment in their local areas, in particular by:

(a) protecting, conserving and rehabilitating natural ecosystems and habitats; and

(b) undertaking activities and adopting practices aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

This objective also has the effect it would have if it were limited to providing support for activities to give effect to Australia’s obligations under:

(a) the Convention on Biological Diversity, particularly Articles 7(c), 8(d), (f), (h) and (l) and 13(a); or

(b) the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, particularly Articles 4(1)(b), (c) and (f) and 4(2)(a).

Solar Communities Program

To provide support for community groups to install solar photovoltaic equipment, solar hot water equipment and solar‑connected batteries at facilities that they own, lease or use to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, to the extent that these measures give effect to Australia’s obligations under:

(a) the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; or

(b) the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Food Rescue Charity Program

To provide support for food rescue charities to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, in particular by:

(a) installing solar photovoltaic equipment, solar‑connected batteries and energy efficient refrigeration equipment at facilities that they own, lease or use; or

(b) purchasing energy efficient refrigeration vehicles.

This objective also has the effect it would have if it were limited to providing support for measures to give effect to Australia’s obligations under:

(a) the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; or

(b) the Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
