REGULATIONS UNDER THE FINANCIAL EMERGENCY ACT 1931-1932.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Financial Emergency Act 1931-1932 to come into operation forthwith.

Financial Emergency (Defence Forces) Regulations.

Short title.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Financial Emergency (Defence Forces) Regulations.

Reduction of salaries of Permanent Naval Forces.

2. The salaries of members of the Permanent Naval Forces shall be reduced as follows:—

(i) The active pay of each officer of the Sea-going Forces (not being an officer in receipt of a consolidated rate of pay or an officer of the rank of Midshipman, Midshipman (E), Paymaster Midshipman, Cadet Midshipman or Paymaster Cadet) shall be reduced by 4d. per day.

(ii) The pay of each officer of the Sea-going Forces in receipt of a consolidated rate of pay shall be reduced by £8 per annum.

(iii) The consolidated rate of active pay of each member of the Auxiliary Services shall be reduced by £8 per annum.

Reduction of salaries of Permanent Military Forces.

3. The salaries of members of the Permanent Military Forces shall be reduced as follows:—

(i) The salary of each member of the Permanent Military Forces, not being a Warrant Officer (Class II.) of the Australian Instructional Corps, nor a Quartermaster Sergeant, Staff Sergeant or Sergeant of the Royal Australian Artillery, Royal Australian Engineers (other than Survey Section), Permanent Army Service Corps, Permanent Army Medical Services or Permanent Army Veterinary Corps nor an Armament Artificer (other than Senior Armament Artificer) or Assistant Armament Artificer shall be reduced—

(a) in the case of a member under 21 years of age—by £4 per annum;

(b) in the case of a member of or above 21 years of age—by £8 per annum.

(ii) The salaries of the following members of the Permanent Military Forces shall be subject to the reduction set out against the respective ranks.

Reduction of salaries of Permanent Air Forces.

4. The salaries of members of the Permanent Air Forces shall be reduced as follows:—

(i) The active rates of pay of members of the Royal Australian Air Force, other than officers on consolidated rates of pay and airmen of the rank of Aircraftsman, Class II., shall be reduced by the amount of 5d. per diem.

(ii) The salaries of officers on consolidated rates of pay shall be reduced by the amount of £8 per annum and the active rates of pay of airmen of the rank of Aircraftsman, Class II., by the amount of 3d. per diem.

Exemption.

5. The reductions effected by these Regulations shall not, unless the Minister so directs, apply in respect of any member of the Permanent Naval Military or Air Forces stationed outside Australia.
