REGULATIONS UNDER THE NAVAL DEFENCE ACT 1910-1912.

Financial and Allowance Regulations for the Naval Forces of the Commonwealth.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Naval Defence Act 1910-1912, to come into operation on and from the 1st day of July, 1916.

Regulation 42 (1)—At end of Regulation 42 (1), insert new sub-Regulation 42 (l) (a) as follows:—

Regulation 42 (1) (a).—Chaplains entered prior to 1st July, 1916, may draw part of deferred pay with active pay as follows:—

Regulation 42 (111.)—Add, at end of Regulation, new paragraph as follows:—

“Chaplains shall be paid Lodging Allowance, Travelling Allowance, and such other allowances provided in Regulations, for which they may become eligible under Naval Board approval, in accordance with the following scale:—

Allowance as provided for—

Chaplain under 4 years’ seniority...

Lieutenant over 5 years’ seniority.

,, over 4 years’ seniority................

Lieutenant-Commander.

,, over 8 years’ seniority................

Commander.

,, over 15 years’ seniority..............

Captain under 3 years’ seniority.”

Regulation 50 (c) is cancelled.

Regulation 77 (1) (a)—Insert, at end of sub-Regulation, the following:—

“Chaplains of the Permanent Naval Forces shall be paid Travelling Allowance, and freight on service baggage, vide Regulation 77 (7) (m) in accordance with the following scale:—

As provided for—

Chaplain under 4 years’ seniority...

Lieutenant over 5 years’ seniority.

,, over 4 years’ seniority................

Lieutenant-Commander.

,, over 8 years’ seniority................

Commander.

,, over 15 years’ seniority..............

Captain under 3 years’ seniority.”
