STATUTORY RULES.
PROVISIONAL REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACTS 1903-1904.
I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby certify that, on account of urgency, the following Regulations under the Defence Acts 1903-1904 should come into immediate operation, and further should be taken to have come into operation on and from the 1st July, 1910, and make the Regulations to come into operation accordingly as Provisional Regulations.

Regulation 63 is cancelled, and the following substituted:—
63.
The following extra pay, in addition to ordinary rates, shall be granted to members of the Royal Australian Artillery stationed at Thursday Island and Townsville, who are not in receipt of a consolidated rate of pay. Those members in receipt of a consolidated rate of pay shall draw District Allowance, as prescribed by Regulation 159a, in lieu of Tropical Pay.

Cancel sub-paragraph (
a ), and substitute:—
(
a ) The following rates of pay, inclusive of all allowances, except travelling and horse allowances, shall apply on and from the 1st July, 1910. Should a Warrant or Non-Commissioned Officer, appointed prior to the date of the coming into force of these Regulations, be in receipt of a salary higher than that pertaining to his classification under this Regulation, he shall continue to receive the same pending promotion to a class with an equivalent, or higher, salary:—

Add new Regulation 159A—
159a. District Allowances on the same scale as paid to members of the Commonwealth Public Service, and subject to the conditions prescribed in Public Service Regulations 168 and 169, shall be paid to all members of the Permanent Military Forces in receipt of consolidated rates of pay, while residing in any district or locality for which a District Allowance has been approved under Public Service Regulations 168 and 169.
