REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1918.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1918 to come into operation forthwith.

financial and allowance regulations for the Australian Military Forces and Senior Cadets, 1921.

(Statutory Rules 1921, No. 82 as amended to this date).

Amendments.

A. Regulation 101 is amended as follows:—

(i) By deleting the words “Acting Bombardier”, and substituting therefor the words “Lance Bombardier”.

(ii) By deleting the following:—

“2nd Corporal, Bombardier

£0 8 6

£10 12 6

£0 8 6

£6 16 0.”

(iii) By inserting the words “or Bombardier,” immediately after the words “Pay and Orderly Room Corporal”.

(iv) By inserting the following new category after the category

“Sergeant........................Sergeant Trumpeter”:—

“Lance Ser-Sergeant

£0 9 6

£11 17 6

£0 9 6

£7 12 0.”

B. Sub-regulation (4) of Regulation 119 is cancelled and the following substituted therefor:—

“(4) Acting ranks and acting or temporary appointments shall not carry any increase of pay, except in the case of Militia Adjutants for whom a special rate is provided in Regulation 126. Lance ranks shall not carry an increase in pay unless such are authorized as ‘paid lance ranks’ in the annual training establishments”.

C. Regulation 138 is amended by inserting the following new sub-regulation:—

“(3) Officers of the Australian Army Medical Corps (Dental Service) and Australian Army Medical Corps Reserve (Dental Service) where employed on dental duty which does not form part of the authorized duties of their appointment, may be paid—”

(a) For each day on which the duration of duty, exclusive of travelling, is three hours or more

One day’s pay of rank under Regulation 101

(b)For each day on which the duration of duty, exclusive of travelling, is less than three hours

One half day’s pay of rank under Regulation,101

D. Regulation 222 is amended as follows:—

(i) By deleting the sentence “but a daily allowance of 2s. for each member attending the Course may be granted to cover all expenses other than rail fares”,

and substituting the following therefor;—

“but an expenditure not exceeding the rate of 2s. per diem for each member attending the Course may be allowed to cover all expenses except those which the Military Board may direct to be provided otherwise”.

(ii) by inserting the following proviso at the end of the Regulation:—

“Provided that at Voluntary Courses of Instruction where horses are required, expenditure on forags not exceeding the rate of 1s. 6d. per diem for each horse may also be allowed”.

E. Regulation 324 is cancelled, and the following substituted therefor:—

“324.—An officer of the Senior Cadets who attends a school or course of instruction, which is held in conjunction with or as part of a school or course for Citizen Force Officers and which has been approved by the Formation, &c., Commander may, if the Formation; &c., Commander approves, and the necessary funds are available from the amount provided for such school or course, be granted:

(a)Rail transport to and from the school or course;

(b) Travelling Allowances;

(c) Tentage or quarters and subsistence whilst attending the school or course.”
