REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1934.*
I,
THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the
advice of the Federal Executive Council,
hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act
1903-1934.

Amendment of Financial and Allowance Regulations for the Australian Military Forces and Senior Cadets.
1. Regulation 138
is amended by omitting sub-regulation (3) and inserting in its stead the following sub-regulation:—
“(3) (a) When an officer of the Australian Army
Medical Corps is not available to perform any duty referred to in
sub-regulation (1) of this regulation
(except attendance at camps, schools or courses of instruction) a qualified civilian practitioner may be employed to perform the duty, and may be paid the allowance authorized
by that sub-regulation, or at such
higher rate as may be approved by the District Finance Officer upon the recommendation of the Deputy Director of Medical Services, having regard to the particular
circumstances of each case.
(b) When an officer of the Australian Army
Medical Corps is not available to attend any camp, school, or course of
instruction, and the attendance of a
medical officer is necessary, a qualified civilian practitioner may be employed to perform the duty and may be paid the allowance authorized by sub-regulation (1) (d) of this regulation, together with field
allowance as prescribed in regulation 235 if he is subsisted in an officers’ mess, as if he held the rank of Captain.”
2. Regulation 228 is amended by omitting paragraphs (h) and (i) of sub-regulation (1).
