REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1915.

Financial and Allowance Regulations for the Australian Military Forces and Senior Cadets—Amendment to Regulations 330, 340, and 341 and Addition of Regulation 340a.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1915, to come into operation from the 1st day of October, 1916.

Financial and Allowance Regulations for the Australian Military Forces and Senior Cadets.

Amendments.

Regulation 330 is amended to read:—

“330. The rules of pay for all ranks of the Militia Forces shall be as set out in the next following regulations.”

The heading to Regulation 340 is amended as follows:—

“340. Rates of Pay for Militia Forces (excluding Australian Army Pay Corps),”

At the end of Regulation 340, add new Regulation 340a, as follows:—

“340a. Rates of pay for the Australian Army Pay Corps.”

1. Members of the Australian Army Pay Corps may, subject to the approval of the Minister, be paid at any rate within the minimum and maximum rates prescribed for their respective ranks.

2. Any member of the Commonwealth or State Public Service, or any clerk permanently appointed under the Defence Act who, after enlistment in the Australian Army Pay Corps, would have been entitled to receive an increased rate of pay under the Regulations governing his civilian appointment, and such increased rate is greater than that received by him as a member of the Australian Army Pay Corps, may be paid at such increased rate.

3. Warrant and Non-Commissioned Officers who were serving in the Pay Branches prior to the formation of the Australian Army Pay Corps, and were in receipt of commuted allowance in lieu of rations, shall continue to receive such commuted allowance until promoted to a higher rank.

Regulation 341 is amended by the addition of the following words at the end thereof:—

“nor shall it affect the pay of members of the Australian Army Pay Corps, which shall be at the rate prescribed in Regulation 340a.”
