REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903-1932.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903-1932.

Financial and Allowance Regulations for the Australian Military Forces and Senior Cadets.

Amendments.

1. Regulation 45 is amended by deleting sub-paragraph (e) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:—

The rates of pay prescribed by this sub-regulation shall be subject to deduction by or under the Financial Emergency Act 1931-1933 in the same manner as they would have been so subject had the sub-regulation been in force at the time of the commencement of that Act.”

2. Regulation 104 is repealed and the following regulation substituted therefor:—

“104. Specialists’ pay of £2 per annum may be paid—

(a) To each qualified Signaller below the rank of Corporal borne on the authorized establishment of a Signal Unit, or as Regimental Signaller of Light Horse and Infantry Units.

(b)To each qualified Specialist of the Field or Garrison Artillery below the rank of Bombardier in accordance with the numbers in the authorized establishments.

Provided that the soldier to whom the payment is made in respect of any financial year has, in that financial year, attended collective training in camp and been classified as ‘efficient’”.

3. Regulation 107 is amended by—

(a) deleting in sub-regulation (i) the sub-paragraphs (a) and (b) and substituting the following sub-paragraphs therefor:—

“(a) For wife

2s. per diem

(b) For each child

1s. per diem”,

and

(b), by deleting in sub-regulation (iv) the figures and letter “7½d” and substituting, the figures and letters “1s. 0d.” therefor.

4. Regulation 161a is repealed and the following regulation substituted therefor:—

“161a. All amounts payable under this part shall be calculated in accordance with the regulations therein, but no amount in excess of £750 shall be paid in respect of any member who is a contributor to the Commonwealth Superannuation Fund.”

5. Sub-regulation (iii) of regulation 207 is repealed and the following sub-regulation substituted therefor:—

“(iii) For the purposes of sub-paragraphs (i) (b) and (ii) (b) of this regulation, mileage allowances shall be calculated at the following rates, viz:—

(a) Motor truck...........................................................................

6½d. per mile

(b) Motor car over 12 h.p. when used at Schools and Tactical Exercises other than in Camp....................................................................

6½d. per mile

(c) Motor car over 12 h.p. used for purposes other than as in sub-paragraph (b)........................................................................................
