REGULATIONS UNDER THE DEFENCE ACT 1903–1918.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Regulations under the Defence Act 1903–1918 to come into operation forthwith.

Amendment of Financial and Allowance Regulations.

Financial and Allowance Regulations for the Australian Military Forces and Senior Cadets are amended as follows:—

(1) The provisions of regulation 1a as made by Statutory Rules 1919 No. 26 shall be deemed to have come into operation as from the 14th February, 1917.

(2) Regulation 12 is amended by inserting next after the word “proposal” wherever occurring the words “or question.”

(3) Regulation 88f is repealed and the following regulation made in lieu thereof, to take effect as from the 1st March, 1919:—

“88f. The following shall be the scale of pay (inclusive of rations and all other allowances except travelling) for Inspectors of the Inspection of Rifle Ranges Staff:—

First Subdivision.

Second Subdivision.

Third Subdivision.

Fourth Subdivision.

Within the grades the increments shall be discretionary but the advance to a higher grade, after one year’s service at the maximum of a lower grade, shall be conditional that such Inspectors

(a) qualify as licensed surveyors, or

(b) pass an examination as may be prescribed in lieu thereof.”
