FILM AND VIDEO TAPE CLASSIFICATION ACT 1984—
REGULATION
(Relating to computer games)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of the Film and Video Tape Classification Act 1984, has been pleased to make the Regulation set forth hereunder.

Commencement
1. This Regulation commences on 20 June 1994.
Amendments
2. The Film and Video Tape Classification Regulation 1985 is
amended:
(a)
by omitting from clauses 1 and 2 the words “Video Tape” wherever occurring and by inserting instead the words “Computer Game” ;
(b)
by inserting in clause 3 (2) after the word “fee” the words “for the review of a decision in respect of a film”;
(c)
by inserting after clause 6 the following clause: Notice on premises—computer games: sec. 34J
7 . A notice displayed under section 34J of the Act must contain
the following symbols and words:

years) EXPLANATORY NOTE
The Film and Video Tape Classification (Amendment) Act 1994 provides for the classification and regulation of computer games. The object of this Regulation is to prescribe certain machinery matters as a consequence of that Act, including the symbols and words that must be contained in notices required to be displayed on premises from which computer games are sold or displayed.
This Regulation is made under the Film and Video Tape Classification Act 1984 (which will be renamed the Film and Computer Game Classification Act 1984 as a result of the amending Act referred to above), including sections 34J and 48 (the general regulation-making power).
