These regulations may be cited as the
Fees Regulation (Education) Regulations 1990 .
(1) In these regulations—
authority means an authority granted by the teachers registration board under section 63(1) of theEducation Act 1972 ;
Government school has the same meaning as in theEducation Act 1972 ;
registration fee means the fee for registration as a teacher prescribed by theTeachers Registration Regulations 1975 , as in force from time to time (not including any additional assessment fee prescribed by those regulations for the purposes of such registration);
Teachers Registration Board has the same meaning as in theEducation Act 1972 .
(2) For the purposes of these regulations, a student is to be regarded as a full fee paying overseas student if—
(a) the student holds a temporary visa in force under the
Migration Act 1958 of the Commonwealth; and(b) the Commonwealth and the State disregard the student (or a class of students to which that student belongs) when calculating the amount of any assistance to the school at which the student is enrolled.
(1) The fees set out in the Schedule are payable, as specified in the Schedule, by a full fee paying overseas student for tuition at a Government school.
(2) The Minister may waive, reduce or remit the payment of the whole or any part of a fee payable under this regulation.
(1) The following fees are payable to the Teachers Registration Board:
on application for a Long Term authority for a period ending on the 31st day of January last occurring before the expiration of three years from the grant of the authority |

on application for an extension of a Long Term authority for a period of three years |
|
on application for a Short Term authority for a maximum period of 12 months |
|
(2) Subject to subregulation (1), the Teachers Registration Board may, where it considers reasonable cause exists for so doing, remit any fee imposed under this regulation in whole or in part.
Schedule—Fees for full fee paying overseas students
For tuition at primary level | $7 500 | $7 500 |
For tuition at secondary level: | ||

For tuition only in a single subject course | $900 | $900 |
If a full fee paying overseas student receives tuition at a Government school for part only of a year, the Minister may, under regulation 3(2), waive, reduce or remit the whole or any part of the fee in respect of that year.
