AN ACT to refer certain Matters to the

Federal Council.

HEREAS by the Federal Council (Adopting) Act, 1885, an

Act of the Imperial Parliament styled the Federal Council

40 Vic., No. 24.

of Australasia Act, 1885, is now in force in the Colony of Western

48 & 49 Vic., c. GO.

Australia ; And whereas it is desirable to refer certain matters to the Federal Council of Australasia, constituted by such last-mentioned Act : Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. IN pursuance of the provisions of the said Federal Council of

Australasia Act, 1885, the following matters are hereby referred to Council of certain"'

Australasia shall have referred the same matters respectively to the

said Council, the said Council may exercise legislative authority in respect of such matters, and that the Acts of the said Council relating to them, respectively, shall be in force in Western Australia, that is to say :—

Matters referred.

The establishment of 'an effectual system of Federal Quarantine; The status of Joint Stock Companies and other corporations in

colonies other than that in which they have been constituted ; facilities for the winding up of companies and corporations carrying on business in more than one colony, and for dealing with and giving effect to schemes of arrangement and compromise between them and their creditors ;

Uniformity throughout Australasia of the laws relating to

Banking.

Legislation for Australasia on the lines of the Imperial Act,

styled the Infectious Diseases (Notification) Act, 1889;

Precautions against and remedial measures for Tuberculosis.

Short title.

2. THIS Act may be styled the Federal Council Reference

Act, 1896.
