2 Fauna Conservation (Open Season—Duck) No. 208, 1992 ˙ Short title 1. This order in council may be cited as the Fauna Conservation (Open Season—Duck) Order 1992 . ˙ Application 2. This order in council applies to the following species of duck— (a) Black duck, also called Australian wild duck, Australian black duck, wild duck, brown duck or grey duck ( Anas superciliosa ); (b) Maned wood duck, also called wood duck or maned goose ( Chenonetta jubata ); (c) Grey teal, also called Australian grey teal, wood teal or slender teal ( Anas gibberifrons ); (d) Grass whistling duck, also called plumed tree duck, plumed whistling duck, eytons tree duck or grass whistler ( Dendrocygna eytoni ); (e) Water whistler, also called whistling tree duck, tree duck, red whistler or Australian wandering whistling duck ( Dendrocygna arcuata ); (f) White-eyed duck, also called white-eye, hardhead or widgeon ( Aythya australis ). ˙ Open season declared 3. An open season is declared under section 29 of the Act for the period starting on 27 July 1992 and ending on 10 October 1992. ˙ Where open season applies 4. The open season applies in all fauna districts other than the fauna districts of Atherton, Aurukun, Barcoo, Brisbane, Bulloo, Cairns, Caloundra, Charters Towers, Dalby, Diamantina, Douglas, Eacham, Gladstone, Gold Coast, Goondiwindi, Gympie, Herberton, Ipswich, Johnstone, Logan, Mackay, Mareeba, Maroochy, Mornington, Mulgrave, Noosa, Paroo, Quilpie, Redcliffe, Redland, Rockhampton, Roma,
3 Fauna Conservation (Open Season—Duck) No. 208, 1992 Toowoomba, Torres, Townsville, Warwick, Widgee and Woongarra. ˙ Terms, conditions etc. for taking, moving and keeping ducks 5. The following terms, conditions and restrictions apply to the taking, moving and keeping of ducks— (a) a person must not take ducks by any means other than shooting with a shotgun; (b) a person who takes ducks must not sell or offer the ducks for sale; (c) a person must not take more than 12 ducks, regardless of species, in any period of 24 hours; (d) a person must not, at any time, have in possession more than 30 ducks, regardless of species; (e) once taken, ducks may be moved from the place of taking only to— (i) the place being used as a temporary camping place by; or (ii) the usual place of residence of; the person who took the ducks; (f) one wing of the carcase of each duck is to remain fully feathered and attached to the carcase until the carcase is moved to the usual place of residence of the person who took the duck, or until it is prepared for cooking, whichever happens first; (g) a person who is authorised to take ducks must give written notice to the Director not later than 1 month after the end of the open season advising— (i) if any ducks were taken; and (ii) if ducks were taken—the number of each species taken.
